Policy Brief: Assessing the Marxist-Islamist Alliance Aimed at America’s Heart

Synopsis

The accelerating fusion of neo-Marxist progressives and radical Islamists within American politics poses an existential threat to the republic. This fusion, colloquially referred to as the Red-Green Alliance, draws on two seemingly conflicting ideologies—Marxism and Islamism—bound together by a common mission to destroy the American constitutional system, capitalism, and the Western Christian tradition. A closer evaluation of the Red-Green Alliance reveals that while it remains one of political convenience, the ideological foundations draw on overlapping master frames that tie shared Marxist and Islamist conceptions of anti-imperialism, anti-Zionism, resistance, and Islamophobia together into a single shared narrative.¹

As this anti-American coalition grows its power and influence on the political left, it’s imperative to take stock of the movement, including its electoral power and potential, funding sources, and domestic political infrastructure. A sober, clear-eyed evaluation is necessary as a precursor for developing society-wide solutions to stop this alliance from transforming into a violent political revolution.

Background: The Rise of the Marxist-Islamist Alliance in American Politics

The term Red-Green Alliance refers to the growing left-wing political coalition of neo-Marxist progressives and anti-Western Islamists. Red refers to the historical Marxist tradition embodied by socialist movements, Communist Party symbolism, and anticapitalist imagery. Green refers to the historical Islamist tradition and religious imagery, which views green as a Quranic color for paradise and signifies the color of preference for Muhammad, the Prophet. This seemingly odd alliance came into view for many Americans for the first time after the 2018 midterm elections. 

For close observers of American politics, the rise of the Squad signaled a new phase in the development of the progressive political machine. Contemporary comparisons drew analogies to the conservative Tea Party movement, which dominated a period during the Obama administration when conservative voters and organizations actively worked to replace incumbent Republican politicians with candidates who possessed stronger ideological moorings.³ 

First elected in 2018, the Squad originally consisted of four far-left members of the House of Representatives: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN).⁴ The moniker came from a photo shoot shortly after their election, when Pressley claimed that someone told them to “do a hashtag or something #squadgoals.”⁵ The name, which is also a term for a small military unit, has stuck as the group has gone on to reshape the Democratic Party and the American political left.

The Squad heralded its arrival as an alternative to Trumpism within the American political left.⁶ Fawning press coverage from The New York Times,⁷ CNN,⁸ the communist magazine Jacobin,⁹ and the Islamist-funded publication Al-Jazeera¹⁰ reinforced this claim as more than mere perception, highlighting the far-left policy positions that animated these new members. Among the positions embraced by the Squad are government-run, socialized medicine; the Green New Deal and its climate change–driven authoritarianism; and the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).¹¹ All three of these radical positions are aimed at the heart of American life, seeking to turn citizens into subjects of the state or render citizenship moot in pursuit of the broader goal of establishing a global proletariat.

The Squad’s best-known member, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or AOC, has made it clear that these revolutionary ambitions are the ultimate goal. During a talk at the University of Chicago in May 2026, she told former Obama presidential advisor David Axelrod that her critics “assume my ambition is positional; they assume my ambition is a title or a seat. And my ambition is way bigger than that. My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go. Senate, House seats, elected officials come and go, but single-payer healthcare is forever. A living wage is forever. Workers’ rights are forever.”¹²

And while membership in the Squad remains relatively unofficial, the original four remain in Congress.¹³ They are elected avatars of the budding Red-Green Alliance, and a small sampling of their quotes illustrates the master frames shared by secular, atheistic neo-Marxists and revolutionary Islamists:

• “I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country. So, if fear was the driving force of policies to keep Americans safe—Americans safe inside this country—we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men.”¹⁴ —Ilhan Omar 

• “Capitalism is an ideology of capital. . . . The most important thing is the concentration of capital and to seek and maximize profit. And that comes at any cost to people and to the environment. So, to me, capitalism is irredeemable.”¹⁵ —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

• “I want to say to all of them, every genocide enabler, look at this room, motherf*****s! We ain’t going anywhere. We are just growing and growing and growing. We are bringing siblings from other movements. . . . It’s not just my blood is Palestinian. It’s that as an American, this city taught me, taught me that the political structures that I have to work in, that we are surrounded by, was built on slavery and genocide and rape and oppression.”¹⁶ —Rashida Tlaib

These statements, and similar statements of which there is no shortage over the last eight years, perfectly illustrate the identitarian race essentialism central to the Squad’s ideology of critical theory, while resting comfortably within the shared anticolonial revolutionary political agenda of both Islamists and neo-Marxists. Arguably, the pioneer of the Squad’s electoral success is Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a self-described socialist who has advocated for hardline leftist policies for the last sixty years, long before his election to the U.S. House of Representatives and later the U.S. Senate.  

Sanders has been the longtime vanguard for a host of far-left policy positions: government-run socialized medicine,¹⁸ drug legalization,¹⁹ a $2.5 trillion government-run housing takeover,²⁰ full taxpayer-backed student loan bailouts,²¹ normalization of relations with communist Cuba,²² and amnesty for all illegal immigrants, just to name a few.²³ His presidential campaigns were instrumental in providing political legitimacy to socialists and neo-Marxists and were critical in lowering the electorate’s inhibitions toward members of the Squad. 

This tight relationship between Sanders and the Squad is further evidenced by the Fighting Oligarchy tour, a joint venture between Sanders and AOC to raise money and organize for the network of radical leftist revolutionary groups increasingly stitched together by an intersectional connection to radical Islamists.²⁴ In fact, the tour has been used to bolster radical Red-Green political candidates such as Zohran Mamdani,²⁵ Nida Allam,²⁶ Abdul El-Sayed,²⁷ and Graham Platner.²⁸ 

Mamdani, now the mayor of New York, has become the new face of the revolutionary coalition between neo-Marxists and radical Islamists—a near-perfect fusion of the intersectional ideology dedicated to destroying capitalism, Christianity, and the Western political tradition. Born in Uganda to successful Indian parents—his father a professor at Columbia University and his mother a famous filmmaker—Mamdani was thrust into social-justice activism at a young age despite coming from a socially and financially privileged background.²⁹ Arguably the very definition of a “champagne socialist,” Mamdani has put forward policy proposals—government-run grocery stores, government-controlled child care, and government-imposed rent freezes—that are failed neo-Soviet throwbacks mixed with critical theory and anticapitalist rhetoric.³⁰ 

Because he was born abroad to non-American parents and intentionally groomed into neo-Marxist ideas, Mamdani’s ties to the constitutionally rooted fabric of Western civilization and what Charlie Kirk referred to as “the American way of life” are largely nonexistent. This is evident in his official swearing-in ceremony, in which he placed his hand on the Quran rather than the Bible as part of his oath of office.³¹ More recently, Mamdani used official mayoral resources to commemorate Nakba Day. Nakba is an Arabic term meaning “calamity” that is strongly associated with Palestinian jihadist movements; it refers to the reestablishment of Israel in 1948. 

Adding insult to injury, Mamdani posted the Nakba Day video announcement on official New York City social media accounts just as Shabbat, the weekly Sabbath observance for Jews in which all electronic devices are shut down for a day, was beginning. His wife, a Syrian American artist, also has a long history of pro-jihadist social media posts and statements, including celebratory praise for a Palestinian terrorist who hijacked a plane.³² A socialist and Islamist firmly ensconced in the anti-American globalist order, Mamdani now runs America’s largest city. 

While Sanders provided much of the political clout and organizational backing for the rise of such radicalism, the first warning sign that the Red-Green Alliance was the future of the American political left occurred during the eight years of the Obama administration. After all, it was former President Barack Obama who famously stated he intended to “fundamentally transform the United States of America.”³³ He then married words to action by implementing Obamacare’s government-mandated control over health insurance; ushering through Dodd–Frank’s heavy-handed financial regulations; normalizing the nefarious Islamist-devoted Muslim Brotherhood; changing the focus from fighting jihadism and terrorism to “extremism,” which laid the foundation for targeting domestic political enemies; and adopting the catastrophic Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which legitimized the world’s largest sponsors of Islamic terrorism in Tehran.³⁴ 

The Obama years significantly weakened American institutional safeguards to the Red-Green coalition and conditioned much of the left-leaning political electorate to support candidates explicitly seeking to tear down foundational components of America’s constitutional order. 

For many Americans, the arrival of the ultra-leftist Squad marked the clearest visible example of the Red-Green fusion. The groundwork for the electoral viability of this ideological coalition was laid long before these members entered Congress in 2018. A broader assessment of the institutional and political ecosystem reveals significant support networks and structures that are accelerating this radical conglomeration among mostly atheist leftists and zealous anti-Western Islamists.

In Focus: The Red-Green Alliance’s Three-Headed Hydra

“They agree on one thing, that they need to destroy the West as we know it today and replace it with something else. For the radicalists, they want to replace it with the Marxist system. For the Islamists, they want to replace it with an Islamist system, which they think is the ideal system.”³⁵

The ecosystem sustaining the Red-Green Alliance is one characterized by three core but distinct groups: the Legitimizers (intellectuals and institutions), the Enablers (influencers and pundits), and the Backers (financial networks). Each of these three groups plays a distinct role in the growing power of neo-Marxist and Islamist revolutionaries inside the United States. This three-headed hydra is not entirely dissimilar to how mainstream political efforts operate, as there is always a need for policymakers, financial supporters, and political influencers to ensure the viability of a cause or candidate. 

However, the fundamental difference (and inherent danger) is in the Red-Green hydra’s goals: to lower the defenses of an American electorate, to build internal support for violent revolution to overthrow the republic, and to equip the radicals with sufficient resources to succeed. Mainstream political movements on the political Right, meanwhile, are designed and intended as an antidote to destructive federal policies and aim to preserve the republic. The Red-Green Alliance is designed and intended to be a poison that kills the republic. Each of the hydra’s heads works with the other two, feeding off the successes of the others. 

Legitimizers: Normalizing the Marxist-Islamist Revolution

This included the Palestinian people’s chief enemies, namely, the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union.”³⁶

The Legitimizers are a mostly familiar group. The Frankfurt School of critical theorists and their academic heirs built the intellectual architecture for the dissemination of Marxist philosophy into arenas outside of the original communist economic paradigm of bourgeoisie and proletariat. Critical theory slithered its way through the institutions during the twentieth century and expanded into present-day intersectionality, wherein all groups are categorized according to oppressor-versus-oppressed dynamics.  Palestinians and third-world Muslim nations were cast as victims of colonialism by the activist left.

Edward Said’s book Orientalism, published in 1978 just before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, provided the academic veneer for those who wanted to cast Western views of the Muslim world in the light of colonial domination. His infusion of Michel Foucault’s theory on discourse and systems of power helped catalyze the movement to immunize political Islam from left-wing criticism.³⁷ Orientalism remains a cornerstone work for Middle East studies and international relations departments in American universities. As an academic downstream of Europe’s postcolonial guilt in the 1960s, Said was instrumental in spreading these views throughout the United States through higher education institutions.

Judith Butler, a longtime academic purveyor of critical theory and a leading pioneer of radical gender ideology, described Hamas and Hezbollah—two of the world’s foremost jihadist terrorist organizations—as left-wing resistance groups. In 2006, while speaking at the University of California, Berkeley, Butler said, “Understanding Hamas, Hezbollah as social movements that are progressive, that are on the Left, that are part of a global Left is extremely important.”³⁸ Butler went on to suggest that jihadist organizations’ place on the global left should not stop activists from “raising questions” about their use of violence but stopped short of condemning terrorist violence.

Years later, Butler doubled down on the characterization of Hamas and Hezbollah as legitimate left-wing groups, emphasizing the overlapping master frames shared by both neo-Marxists and Islamists: “I was asked by a member of an academic audience a few years ago whether I thought Hamas and Hezbollah belonged to ‘the global left,’ and I replied with two points. My first point was merely descriptive: those political organizations define themselves as anti-imperialist, and anti-imperialism is one characteristic of the global left, so on that basis, one could describe them as part of the global left. My second point was then critical: as with any group on the left, one has to decide whether one is for that group or against that group, and one needs to critically evaluate their stand.”³⁹ 

It is important to highlight that the advancement and promulgation of critical theory within our institutions is inextricably linked to postcolonial theory, of which Butler is an avid adherent. This theory inserts the oppressed-versus-oppressor dynamic into the foreign-policy actions and priorities of Western nations, presenting every interaction between the West and its supposedly oppressed counterparts—in this instance, the Muslim world—as the action of an evil colonialist force seeking to dominate and control the poor victims beyond its borders. 

Following the October 7, 2023, mass rape and massacre of more than 1,200 Israelis and forty-six American citizens by Hamas jihadists, Butler used anti-imperialist framing and characterized the massacre as “an act of armed resistance.”⁴⁰ She said that Hamas’s actions were “not a terrorist attack and it is not an antisemitic attack. It was an attack against Israelis.”⁴¹

In the minds of the Red-Green Legitimizers, jihadist violence against Israel (and the United States) cannot ultimately be morally questionable or evil because America and Israel are oppressors and jihadist movements are the oppressed. The brutal mass murder, mass rape, and mass kidnapping of well over a thousand Israelis and dozens of American citizens—the vast majority civilians—is not only justifiable but acceptable for Butler and her fellow Legitimizers. Indeed, this is a preview of what lies in store for the vast majority of Americans should this alliance ever come into true political power: mass murder followed by applause.

Butler’s colleague at UC Berkeley Hatem Bazian has focused on Islamophobia within this intersectional academic infrastructure. Alongside anti-imperialism, anti-Zionism, and resistance, the fourth Red-Green Alliance master frame of Islamophobia works to cast opposition to political Islam as the stance of bigots and oppressors. In this realm, Bazian masterfully employs the “motte and bailey” strategy of publicly espousing radical rhetoric and ideas and then crying “Islamophobia” in response to anyone who dares criticize him and his comrades.⁴²

In 2002, Bazian organized an “anti-Israel” protest at UC Berkeley on Holocaust Remembrance Day and told attendees to “take a look at the type of names on the building around campus—Haas, Zellerbach—and decide who controls this university.”⁴³ In 2004, Bazian called for an intifada—an Arabic term meaning “revolution” and strongly associated with jihadist terrorism—against the United States during an antiwar rally: “How come we don’t have an intifada in this country?”⁴⁴ and “They’re going to say some Palestinian [is] being too radical—well, you haven’t seen radicalism yet!”⁴⁵  

Bazian, a Jordanian born to Palestinian parents, cofounded the radical and violent group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at UC Berkeley during the early 1990s.⁴⁶ He is currently a teaching professor at the university’s Department of Near Eastern and Asian Studies and a lecturer for the school’s Center for Race and Gender, which he used to launch the Islamophobia Research and Documentation Project in 2009.⁴⁷ Bazian also founded American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), which serves as a critical financial resource and organizer for SJP chapters across the United States.⁴⁸ 

He is a core component of the Legitimizer axis within the Red-Green Alliance, and his networks have come under scrutiny for active ties to jihadist organizations. Former Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares launched an investigation into AMP for potentially using funds for “impermissible purposes under state law, including benefiting or providing support to a terrorist organization.”⁴⁹ AMP has also been the subject of House Oversight Committee investigations into Hamas-affiliated networks inside the United States.⁵⁰

Key Legitimizers include the following:

• Academics: High-profile academics such as Judith Butler, Hatem Bazian, and Joseph Massad leverage their positions within universities to provide ideological and intellectual ammunition for the Red-Green movement.

• Universities: Institutions such as Columbia University, New York University, UC Berkeley, Harvard University, and the University of North Carolina operate as taxpayer-backed sanctuaries for the perpetuation of Marxist and Islamist ideologies.

• Nonprofits: Organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) provide legal protection for Red-Green organizers and move the alliance into mainstream legitimacy within left-wing coalitions.

Indeed, the vast constellation of networks dedicated to the Red-Green revolution within the United States has been enabled by academic outposts largely funded by American taxpayers. But the budding revolution has not remained in the faculty lounges. The legitimizing institutions in academia have spawned dozens of social organizations and nonprofits from their redoubts on American universities. Wider support for these entities is amplified by the second head of the Red-Green hydra.

Influencing Support for the Marxist-Islamist Revolution

The Enablers popularize the Red-Green Alliance as a desirable and morally justifiable political prism through which to view the world, thereby making political power easier to attain. This axis comprises influencers, celebrities, podcasters, and political operatives with prominent media platforms. The purpose of the Enablers is to reinforce the overlapping master frames of anti-Imperialism, anti-Zionism, resistance, and Islamophobia within a wider audience; provide popular defense against Americans seeking to stop the Red-Green Alliance; and condition future militants toward revolutionary action, including violence.

Popular left-wing influencers such as the Twitch streamer Hasan Piker have leaned into the underlying purpose of the Red-Green Alliance with explicit support for jihadist terrorism and jihadist terrorist groups⁵² and an open embrace of communism.⁵³ The nephew of the far-left pundit and Muslim apologist Cenk Uygur, Piker was born in New Jersey to Turkish parents and has become one of the most influential online voices for the Red-Green Alliance. He has nearly two million subscribers on his YouTube channel and over three million subscribers on his Twitch channel. One of his most recent uploads to his YouTube channel is a half-hour-long mini-documentary portraying the brutal Cuban communist regime as a victim of American imperialist aggression.⁵⁴ 

Piker recently spoke at Yale University, where he characterized the fall of the Soviet Union “as one of the greatest catastrophes of the twentieth century.”⁵⁵ The Turkish influencer has openly stated that he hates Republicans: “The biggest terrorists, the biggest domestic terrorist in this country, the biggest terrorist internationally is the Republican Party. . . . I want to fight against the growing fascist movement in this country.”⁵⁶ 

Arguably the ultimate purveyor of the alliance’s master frames, Piker routinely speaks in terms of resistance to capitalism, advancing anti-imperial interests, and supporting violent anti-Zionist direct action.

Piker has stated that America deserved the 9/11 attacks,⁵⁷ hosted Houthi jihadists on his livestreams,⁵⁸ and admitted that he is unbothered by the brutal rape and murder of both Israeli and American civilians by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023.⁵⁹ When asked by the former Obama staffer Jon Favreau on the Pod Save America podcast about his support for Hamas, Piker doubled down: “I’m a lesser-evil voter, and therefore I would vote for Hamas over Israel every single time.”⁶⁰ Piker is also known for threatening the life of Senator Rick Scott (R-FL): “If you cared about Medicare fraud or Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott.”⁶¹

Other left-wing Enablers, such as Rania Khalek, an American journalist born to Lebanese parents, target their audiences to buy into the narratives of the Red-Green worldview. Khalek runs the Islamist-sympathetic publication BreakThrough News and dedicates her media efforts to “dismantling” global capitalism and defending the Middle East “Axis of Resistance.”⁶² She has laundered Iranian talking points into her analysis of conflicts in the Middle East⁶³ and used the master frames of resistance and anti-imperialism in her coverage of the United States, Israel, and Muslim nations.⁶⁴ These elements fuel her linkage of capitalism with oppression, where she platforms openly Marxist guests who work to characterize the United States as a force for evil.⁶⁵

Political operatives such as Bernie Sanders’s former national press secretary Briahna Joy Gray further enable the Red-Green Alliance. Gray channels young Americans toward support for political revolution inside the United States through efforts to elect hardline socialists and implement authoritarian policies such as socialized medicine.⁶⁶ She marries these far-left policy pushes to her zealous anti-Israel activism, including overt sympathies for Islamic terror groups such as Hamas.⁶⁷ After publicly defending Hamas and its jihadist, genocidal charter to an audience at the Dissident Dialogues festival in 2024, Joy was met with audience backlash. She reportedly responded to the backlash by telling the moderator, “This is the most Islamophobic, racist audience I’ve ever seen. It’s disgusting. I hope someone drops a bomb on this entire building.”⁶⁸ 

Red-Green Enablers’ normalization of violence is a hallmark of the hydra’s second head. The effect of normalizing political violence and militancy is not accidental: It reinforces to millions of left-leaning Americans the “moral righteousness” of the Red-Green cause. These efforts lower public inhibitions to the growing radicalism inside America while molding young people into foot soldiers for the revolution. The link between the Palestinian cause and the violent destruction of the American way is explicit and intentional. As Manolo De Los Santos, executive director of the explicitly communist organization The People’s Forum, puts it: “When the state of Israel is finally destroyed and erased from history, that will be the single most important blow we can give to destroying capitalism and imperialism in our lifetime.”⁶⁹

Success in their mission requires resources, not just intellectual backing and cultural influence. That is where the third head of the hydra enters the equation.

Funding the Marxist-Islamist Revolution

The Backers provide the financial resources and infrastructure needed to propagate the Red-Green revolution. The means by which this occurs are multifaceted. With institutional backing from American universities, activist organizations, and nonprofits flowing freely from these collegiate sanctuaries and high-profile influencers conditioning audiences to support revolution, wealthy donors simultaneously astroturf support for the Red-Green Alliance and follow leftist political trendlines. It is a chicken and egg question whether the Backers made the alliance politically relevant or whether political relevance made its expansive funding ecosystem.

What is indisputable is that the financial support fueling these organizations, political candidates, and neo-Marxist causes comes from a combination of political action committees (PACs), dark money organizations, well-heeled foundations, and taxpayer grants. The funding streams are as varied as they are potent.

One of the most prominent PACs elevating Red-Green political candidates is Justice Democrats, founded by former Bernie Sanders staffers. This PAC is the primary institutional engine that recruited and funded the Squad. It relies heavily on massive volumes of small-dollar, grassroots donations aggregated through ActBlue. Its financial strategy is to pool progressive money to primary perceived moderate Democrats and replace them with candidates who support neo-Marxist economic policies and Palestinian “solidarity.” Nine current members of the U.S. House of Representatives were endorsed and supported by Justice Democrats.⁷¹

The Reject AIPAC financial coalition, which comprises more than twenty far-left organizations, including Justice Democrats, is aimed at countering more traditional lobbies in support of continuing the American–Israeli partnership. American Priorities PAC, which launched in 2026, is an explicitly pro-Palestinian entity also founded by a former Bernie Sanders staffer, Hannah Fertig.⁷² This PAC has already seen significant success in Democrat primaries, advancing the radical Islamist Adam Hamawy into the general election for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District and the militant Marxist revolutionary Darializa Chevalier into the general election for New York’s 13th Congressional District.⁷³

Much of the chaos that struck U.S. college campuses in the wake of Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel was funded by a complex web of fiscal sponsorships and donor-advised funds, also known as dark-money entities. One of the foremost progenitors of these networks is the Westchester People’s Action Committee (WESPAC) Foundation.⁷⁴ WESPAC is arguably the Red-Green Alliance’s most critical financial node. 

WESPAC serves as a “fiscal sponsor” for organizations that lack IRS tax-exempt status. The foundation manages the money for SJP, the Palestinian Youth Movement, and Within Our Lifetime (WOL). Each of these organizations has espoused violence and engaged in violence on American universities and in U.S. cities as part of Red-Green street protests. Money donated to fund campus encampments or massive street protests legally passes through WESPAC, shielding the donors from public scrutiny.⁷⁵

But even these entities only comprise a portion of the Backers’ overall funding ecosystem. More “legitimate” institutions and entities often take grants and donations for ostensibly mainline causes and funnel them to groups that advance the Marxist-Islamist political coalition.

One of the most well-known sources of such funding is the Tides Foundation. Based in San Francisco, the Tides Foundation manages over $1.4 billion in assets.⁷⁶ It is the premier dark-money clearinghouse for the progressive left. Wealthy liberal donors—including George Soros and Bill Gates—place their money in Tides’s “donor-advised funds,” and Tides then cuts the checks to the activist groups. The foundation has funneled millions into groups essential to the Red-Green Alliance and funds virtually every major progressive, anticapitalist, and anti-Zionist NGO in the United States, including CodePink, Jewish Voice for Peace, and IfNotNow.⁷⁷ 

The money that flows into dark-money operations and clearinghouses like the Tides Foundation often originates from large legacy philanthropic organizations. For example, George Soros’s Open Society Foundations gave Tides nearly $18 million in 2022 and 2023 alone, earmarking portions specifically for pro-Palestinian causes.⁷⁸ Similarly, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) has regularly provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to neo-Marxist grassroots organizations and organizations accused of supporting jihadists.⁷⁹ Newer and more prolific financiers, such as the China-based tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, are alleged to have moved hundreds of millions through legitimate entities like Goldman Sachs into shell corporations that fund dozens of neo-Marxist and Islamist nonprofits inside the United States.⁸⁰

Figures like Hasan Piker operate entirely outside the PAC and nonprofit system. By using Twitch subscriptions, YouTube ad revenue, and Patreon, Marxist and anti-imperialist influencers receive millions of dollars directly from their digital audiences. This decentralized, untraceable funding structure allows influencers to disseminate radical ideology and platform resistance groups without facing the financial leverage or advertiser boycotts that constrain traditional media networks or elected politicians.

Recent reports from the House Judiciary Committee have revealed the extent to which taxpayer-funded federal grants, particularly under the Biden administration, have also supercharged these far-left activist organizations and have been used to funnel American taxpayer dollars to foreign jihadist organizations and nonprofits to facilitate violent protests on American university campuses. The latest report, released May 29, 2026, underscores that the RBF and the Tides Network provided over $5 million to groups that funded radical anti-Israel protests in the United States and Israel and supported multiple terrorist-linked NGOs.⁸¹ Tides received over $30 million in taxpayer money from USAID from 2016 to 2022, ostensibly for civil development programs overseas.⁸² Some of these funds went to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, an entity with strong suspected ties to Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.⁸³

The Trump administration’s dismantling of USAID is a victory in combating the Backers fueling the Red-Green movement. However, taxpayers still significantly subsidize higher education through both state-level direct appropriations and federal grants and student loans. In 2023, the federal government provided nearly $60 billion to universities in “research and development” grants alone.⁸⁴ With money being fungible, taxpayers are not only fueling the sanctuaries from which the Legitimizers normalize the Marxist-Islamist revolution but are also being compelled to partially fund the revolutionary violence ultimately directed back at them.

As the three-headed hydra grows in power and influence, it is imperative to consider what its rise means for the United States.

An Assessment of the Implications

“Let the streets soak in their f***ing red capitalist blood, dude.”⁸⁵

The rise of the Red-Green movement is a harbinger of violent revolution. Americans are already experiencing the first waves of societal disruption, violence, and extremism even while this unholy alliance is only on the fringes of political power. In Iran, this coalition spearheaded the overthrow of the Shah and the imposition of the Islamic Revolution. Once the Shah was deposed, the Greens turned on the Reds and persecuted them severely.⁸⁶ The revolution always eats itself, though only after inflicting significant human suffering.

These Marxist-Islamist outposts currently extend beyond the dozens of university Middle East Studies departments across the nation to include violent student activist organizations like SJP, nonprofits like AMP, organizing entities such as The People’s Forum, and increasingly powerful political advocacy organizations such as the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Meanwhile, old-guard entities such as CAIR and Emgage operate as charitable nonprofits to nurture acceptance of the Red-Green Alliance within the body politic under the guise of the First Amendment, which they ultimately seek to eradicate.

The poisonous fruit of the Red-Green Alliance was on full display from the end of 2023 and into 2024 in violent campus uprisings in the name of anti-Zionism, anticolonialism, and resistance.” Jewish American students were assaulted, intimidated, and threatened with bodily harm.⁸⁷ Masked Marxist-Islamist militants, many of them students, burned American flags outside Philadelphia’s city hall on the Fourth of July,⁸⁸ replaced the U.S. flag with the Palestinian flag at the University of North Carolina,⁸⁹ and assaulted police officers at New York University.⁹⁰ 

During a 2024 event at Columbia University called “Resistance 101,”  speakers encouraged students to actively participate in Islamist terrorism. Charlotte Kates, the wife of Samidoun founder Khaled Baraket, told students that “there is nothing wrong with being a member of Hamas, being a leader of Hamas, being a fighter in Hamas.”⁹¹ These statements occurred after Hamas murdered, raped, and/or kidnapped some forty-six Americans during the October 7, 2023, massacre.

By the time two Israeli embassy staffers were gunned down in Washington, D.C., in 2025 by a Red-Green militant from Chicago, the true effects of the Marxist-Islamist Alliance were pooled in blood in the streets of our nation’s capital.⁹² The assassin’s subsequent shouts of “Free Palestine!” following his arrest were met by cheers from the DSA Liberation Caucus,⁹³ an affiliate of the DSA, and California-based communist groups like the United Liberation Front for Palestine.⁹⁴ Similar celebrations occurred on the political left following the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024.⁹⁵

Nerdeen Kiswani, the Jordanian founder of the jihad-supporting organization Within Our Lifetimes,⁹⁶ has explicitly stated her desire to murder those she deems Zionist: “I hope that a ‘pop-pop’ is the last noise that some Zionists hear in their lifetime.”⁹⁷ Kiwani’s November 2023 WOL rally in New York City featured the actress Susan Sarandon and specifically targeted numerous Jewish organizations throughout the city. At the rally, hundreds of masked activists, many of them American students and Marxist militants, shouted, “Long live the Intifada!” and “From New York to Gaza, globalize the Intifada!”⁹⁸

One of Kiswani’s close allies is Amin Husain, a radical Palestinian professor formerly employed at New York University and summarily fired after allegedly inciting violence against Jews. Husain is a prominent neo-Marxist activist who first came onto the scene during the Occupy Wall Street movement and has made it clear that he views the entirety of New York City as Zionist, a view that he believes legitimizes it as a permanent target.⁹⁹ 

For the vast majority of Americans, the long-term implications of the burgeoning Red-Green Alliance amount to an existential threat. Marxism and Islamism are incompatible with the American way of life and indeed are mortal enemies of our biblically informed constitutional order. Both ideologies seek to erase the very Western conception of life and have been the primary enemies of the United States for the last century. Further, both movements are inherently predisposed to murder and destruction. In the long run, there will be no compromise. One side will prevail, and one side will not. If the Red-Green revolutionaries prevail, it means subjugation or death for everyone else.

In the near term, this alliance has four practical implications for Americans:

• Growing Sharia Law: The threat of Sharia law continues to rise in Muslim enclaves across the United States, whether it is EPIC (East Plano Islamic Center) in Texas or the call to prayer in Minneapolis.¹⁰⁰ As the integration of Marxist and Islamist political movements increases, so too will efforts to impose and defend Islam’s subversive whole-of-life legal and moral framework in place of the U.S. Constitution.

• Increased Cultural Clashes: As recently revealed in the Lowe Report in the United Kingdom, increasing numbers of Islamists within Western societies are fueling cultural clashes that are leading to violent attacks and rapes by “grooming gangs.”¹⁰¹ At least 90 percent of such violent incidents have been perpetrated by individuals with Islamic names. As the Red-Green integration grows, so too will similar cultural clashes that destroy the lives of American citizens.

• Increased Street Violence: With polling showing significant swaths of progressives in favor of political violence, targeted violence and intimidation on university campuses and the street militancy of Marxist groups like Antifa and Pro-Palestinian organizations like SJP and WOL are likely to accelerate.¹⁰²

• Increased Risk of Domestic Terrorism: The targeted assassinations of Charlie Kirk and Brian Thompson by radical leftists and the continued attempts to assassinate President Donald Trump are byproducts of the Red-Green Alliance. So too are the firebombings of pro-life women’s centers and violent attacks against American Jews in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre. As Marxists and Islamists come to dominate left-wing American political circles, more violence and acts of terrorism will likely follow as both groups routinely glorify such acts.

• More Radical Policies: The rise of successful Red-Green political candidates means increased efforts to impose totalitarian policies such as socialized medicine, Green New Deal climate-change dogma, gun control, government-run grocery stores, the abolition of ICE, open borders, and taxpayer-funded revolution through grants to and subsidies for Red-Green nonprofits.

Taken together, all of these effects of the Red-Green Alliance threaten the comity of civil society, the safety of families, and the fundamental freedoms of American citizens. It is therefore imperative that Americans accept the truth that this unholy alliance is growing.

Currently, Justice Democrats have nine members in the House of Representatives. However, after recent primaries in New York and New Jersey, at least four more Marxists are likely to join their ranks. These include Adam Hamawy, who testified in support of the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing Omar Abdel-Rahman;¹⁰³ Claire Valdez, who ran on abolishing ICE;¹⁰⁴ and the extremist Darializa Chevalier, who has called for the eradication of the United States.¹⁰⁵ After the November 2026 elections, the explicitly Marxist-Islamist coalition could more than double its representation, controlling 4.5 percent of the House of Representatives and electing its second member to the United States Senate. Some of these members could be committee chairmen.

At the state level, these numbers are also likely to grow after the November elections. Among those who will hold office are people like Aber Kawas, who won the Democrat nomination for New York State Senate District 12. She was backed by Mamdani and in 2017 told a panel that America deserved the 9/11 attacks.¹⁰⁶ She summarized the views of the Red-Green Alliance by saying that “the system of capitalism and racism and white supremacy, etc., and Islamophobia have all been used, you know, to colonize lands, to take resources from other people. And so this is, like, a long trajectory, and we’re just seeing the manifestations of that continuation, right, with 9/11. And so a lot of times when people are asking us to respond about, you know, an attack, if you look back historically, right, a lot of us come from lands that were colonized, lands where wars are being waged, right. And a lot of times because of U.S. policy or the policies in Europe. And so, I find that we can connect over that, but then also that the idea that we have to apologize for, like, a terror attack that, like, a couple of people did, and then there is no apologies or reparations for genocides and for slavery, etc., is something that I kind of find reprehensible.”¹⁰⁷  

She is now likely to represent citizens in a state that lost 2,606 innocent people in those Islamic terrorist attacks.

The Path Forward: First Steps for Stopping the Threat

“Let every American, every lover of liberty, every well wisher to his posterity, swear by the blood of the Revolution, never to violate in the least particular, the laws of the country; and never to tolerate their violation by others.”¹⁰⁸

The three-headed hydra of the Red-Green Alliance ensures that its political viability is not a mere flash in the pan. The movement is the culmination of the decades-long march through the institutions, the result of decades of exposure to critical theory’s poisonous effects on civil society. The goal was, is, and will remain a violent revolution to tear down the American constitutional order and replace it with either a Marxist totalitarian state or an Islamist order. Neither system will tolerate the existence of anything else.

The first step in stopping this threat is recognizing it for what it is: a dagger aimed at the beating heart of the United States. Concerned citizens, policymakers, elected officials, pastors, business owners, and other elements of civil society must internalize the fact that the Red-Green Alliance intends to eradicate free markets, shatter the U.S. Constitution, and crush biblical values under the boot heel of the state. The second step is to recognize that this threat is real and growing.

So what to do?

• Accelerate Bureaucratic Dismantling: The Trump administration has been successful at terminating significant components of the woke and weaponized federal leviathan, including at USAID. It must accelerate these actions. The latest proposed rule from the Office of Management and Budget to reform the federal grantmaking process by empowering political appointees to sign off on discretionary awards is a critical step.¹⁰⁹ This will isolate and obstruct the Backers. Congress must follow suit with strict statutory prohibitions on grants through the appropriations process, including establishing criteria that prevent entities like the Tides Foundation and Rockefeller Brothers Fund from accessing taxpayer dollars. Financial supply lines must be permanently severed.

• Implement Targeted Visa Freeze: The executive branch should freeze all immigration from hostile Muslim-majority nations and territories, including especially the Palestinian territories, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iran, and Yemen. Congress should consider legislation that bans Sharia law in the United States. A recent bill introduced by Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX), the Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act, offers a model.¹¹⁰ It prevents all foreign nationals who observe Sharia law from either entering the United States or remaining in the country. This will mitigate the reach of the Enablers.

• Place Universities in Receivership: A recent move by the board of trustees at Auburn University to abolish the faculty senate and take control of the school’s curriculum signals a means by which states can break down the Legitimizers.¹¹¹ State legislatures should pass statutory requirements for universities that receive taxpayer funding to either abolish Marxist-Islamist curricula and departments or face defunding and curriculum seizure. Our institutions of higher education are churning out militant revolutionaries on the taxpayers’ dime. They must either reverse course or face the consequences.

• Tell the Better, Truer Story: Churches, civic organizations, and influencers must counter the Enablers by telling the better and truer story of what it means to be an American. For far too long, woke celebrities and institutions have pilloried the United States as an irredeemable force for evil, when in fact the nation has been the greatest civilizational force for good in human history. Being an American means being an heir to the revolutionary idea that our rights come from God, that a virtuous people can prosper without the heavy hand of the state or a monarch, and that it is our responsibility to leave the next generation better off than the last. This is a story that must be told, repeatedly and with enthusiasm, to younger generations desperate for truth and virtue.

Last, and perhaps the most difficult of all, is realigning our institutions with the fundamental reality of our republic: that our Constitution and way of life are meant exclusively for a biblical people. This does not mean that every American must practice Christianity or Judaism but rather that our republic and constitutional order cannot function unless the people are moral and just, rooted firmly in the biblical ethic. As John Adams famously declared, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”¹¹²

This truth is coming fully into focus as America’s foundational fabric frays under the radicalism of the rising Red-Green Alliance. So the paradigm shift that must occur is advancing the correct notion that neither a Marxist nor an Islamist can be an American.

Both the Red and Green sides of the alliance seek to use the freedoms embedded in our constitutional order—freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of expression, and freedom of assembly—to destroy that very system. Marxists swear allegiance to the revolution and the imposition of a tyranny of the proletariat. Islamists seek to impose Sharia law, which explicitly aims to replace all forms of government, politics, economics, law, and human social interactions with strict precepts derived straight from the Quran and hadiths. Like Marxism, Sharia law is not only incompatible with Western forms of government but explicitly at war with them.  

If neither a Marxist nor an Islamist can truthfully swear allegiance to the United States Constitution, which flows from the Bible and Western political tradition, then can either truly be a citizen of the republic? The answer, of course, is no.

It’s time to state that fact plainly, loudly, and without reservation. And as other proposed measures to counter this threat are presented, it is time for policymakers to take the threat seriously and begin making the case to denaturalize and strip citizenship for any individual who belongs to either the Red or Green camps.

This must be the century when the long march of the radicals comes to an end. Americans must reclaim their identity, renew the true meaning of citizenship, and restore both political and civic safeguards that make such violent revolutionary forces, which seek to destroy our very way of life, wholly unwelcome in our country. Failure to do so jeopardizes the lives and fortunes of all future generations of Americans.

Conclusion

Christianity and the West’s two most prominent historical enemies, Marxists and Islamists, are coalescing into a potent political force inside the United States. This alliance is working together against their shared enemy for the purpose of fomenting a revolution that will destroy the American way of life. Patriotic Americans must face head-on the growing electoral success of the Red-Green movement, backed by increasing support from younger Americans and the universities.

The response must include our whole society, incorporating public policy solutions, institutional realignment with the founding spirit of our republic, political capital to thwart radical networks, cultural counternarratives rooted in truth, and new paradigms that restore the essence of what it means to be an American. Only by recognizing the threat for what it is can America avoid the fate of other great civilizations that were destroyed from within.

In the days ahead, citizens, policymakers, and organizations tethered to the constitutional order must embrace the truth if the unholy Red-Green Alliance is to be defeated. That truth is that our republic was always meant for a moral people—a society rooted in biblical principles and virtues that stand the test of time. It can be for no other.
