Introduction to the Red-Green Alliance Against Western Civilization

The term Red-Green Alliance refers to the growing left-wing political coalition of neo-Marxist progressives and anti-Western Islamists. Despite the inherent contradictions between these two ideologies (with progressives championing feminism and LGBTQ+ causes while Islam forbids homosexuality and restricts women), a de facto coalition has emerged. Both groups are united in their commitment to tear down the traditional American way of life.

Citizenship means more than residence in a particular place. It is the recognition of a land, culture, and history as one’s own. It involves the adoption and defense of a common way of life. Citizens may disagree about the best path forward for their nation, but all are united in their commitment to protect it. The unwritten contract of citizenship is verbalized when public officers swear to uphold the Constitution and when schoolchildren say the pledge of allegiance. Adherents to ideologies that attack the foundational pillars of our society—freedom of speech, freedom of religion, Christian morality—cannot sincerely swear allegiance to the United States of America. Such is the case with Marxist-Islamism.

The Red-Green Alliance entered mainstream national politics with the emergence of “the Squad,” comprised of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN). All four congresswomen have attacked American principles, with Tlaib stating, “It’s that as an American, this city taught me, taught me that the political structures that I have to work in, that we are surrounded by, was built on slavery and genocide and rape and oppression.” Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York City is the culmination of the Marxist-Islamist coalition. As both an Islamist and self-proclaimed socialist, Mamdani has used his position to advocate for Palestinian liberation and implement anti-capitalist policies.

The alliance extends beyond elected officials. Popular left-wing influencers such as Twitch streamer Hasan Piker have offered explicit support for jihadist terrorist groups, radicalizing many young Americans. Academics serve to legitimize the ideology, infusing anti-imperialist rhetoric into the education system. Non-profit organizations and political action committees provide funding for Marxist-Islamist causes, channeling funds from wealthy liberal donors to jihadist-aligned movements.

Both the Red and Green sides of the alliance seek to use the freedoms embedded in our constitutional order—freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of expression, and freedom of assembly—to destroy that very system. Marxists swear allegiance to the revolution and the imposition of a tyranny of the proletariat. Islamists seek to impose Sharia law, which explicitly aims to replace all forms of government, politics, economics, law, and human social interactions with strict precepts derived straight from the Quran and hadiths. Like Marxism, Sharia law is not only incompatible with Western forms of government but explicitly at war with them.

Marxism and Islamism are incompatible with the American way of life and indeed are mortal enemies of our biblically informed constitutional order. Both ideologies seek to erase the very Western conception of life and have been the primary enemies of the United States for the last century. As the integration of Marxist and Islamist political movements increases, so too will efforts to impose and defend Islam’s subversive whole-of-life legal and moral framework in place of the U.S. Constitution.

Red-Green ideologues divide the world into two classes: the oppressors and the oppressed. This school of thought frames the American Founders, the West, and Christianity as forces of oppression and imperialism. Marxist-Islamism is not a critique of American principles but an outright rejection of them. It demands that our way of life be replaced, not merely reformed. Those who adhere to this ideology cannot fulfill the true duties of citizenship; it is impossible to pledge due allegiance to a nation that one believes to be intrinsically evil. One cannot make an oath to uphold a creed that one spurns.

If neither a Marxist nor an Islamist can truthfully swear allegiance to the United States Constitution, which flows from the Bible and Western political tradition, then can either truly be a citizen of the republic? The answer, of course, is no. It’s time to state that fact plainly, loudly, and without reservation. It is time for policymakers to take the threat seriously and begin making the case to denaturalize and strip citizenship for any individual who belongs to either the Red or Green camps. Those who explicitly reject the principles of the Constitution cannot swear allegiance to it. Patriotic Americans must recognize their oaths as fraudulent and face head-on the growing electoral success of the Red-Green movement. Only by recognizing the threat for what it is can America avoid the fate of other great civilizations that were destroyed from within.
